Education at the CDRI

The mission of the Chihuahuan Desert Research Institute is to promote public awareness, appreciation, and concern for the natural diversity of the Chihuahuan Desert region through research and education. To achieve this mission, the Institute provides environmental education to the community, encourages biodiversity conservation, and promotes and demonstrates sustainable development in the desert.

Education at the CDRI encompasses many programs. Kids love the in-school visits and the Chihuahuan Desert Field School. Visitors of all ages enjoy interpretive hikes, tours, and exhibits at the Chihuahuan Desert Nature Center & Botanical Gardens. Workshops, fieldtrips, lectures, and events are offered year-round to encourage life-long learning. In addition, the CDRI also offers workshops for teachers.
