Teachers' Workshops Sponsored by the CDRI

The CDRI is currently offering teachers' workshops for CPE credit. These TEKS-based workshops will focus on the Chihuahuan Desert region. 
 
Earth & Space Science Teachers' Workshop, for 4th8th Grade Teachers
January 18, 2008
 
Biology Teachers' Workshop, for 4th8th Grade Teachers 
February 29; 9 AM to 4 PM; at the Chihuahuan Desert Nature Center & Botanical Gardens 
Cost:  $50.00
Limited to 10 people.
 
Workshop will include:
A presentation designed to increase your conceptual knowledge of biological concepts such as ecology, ecosystems, ecological succession, biodiversity, adaptations, and interspecies interactions and relationships.
Lab activities and lesson ideas you can use in your teaching. 
A short walk through our botanical gardens and cactus & succulent greenhouse that focuses on plant adaptations in an arid environment. 
A canyon hike that compares and contrast two different Chihuahuan Desert ecosystems. 
A list of websites containing useful lesson ideas, activities, and information. 
 
We will provide lunch. Please wear shoes appropriate for a hike. All workshop materials are provided. 
 
Upon successful completion of the workshop, you will receive six hours of continuing education credits.
