Maxie Templeton Cactus Museum Collection: One of the world's largest collections of Chihuahuan Desert cacti, with ~200 species, sub-species, and varieties of cacti and succulents.
Wildscape Garden: Sit back in a rocking chair on our front porch at the Powell Visitor Center, and enjoy a variety of birds, lizards, butterflies, and bees throughout the landscape. Trans Pecos Natives garden path: The main path in the garden, a self-guided stroll, features nearly 165 species of Trans-Pecos Region native plants, grouped by plant family and individually labeled. (0.5-mile loop). Pollinator Garden Trail: Learn about native pollinators and how they interact with native plants at the Pollinator Garden. New demonstration gardens welcome you to the volcanic rock outcropping, where planter beds are incorporated into the unique rock formations. Continuing beyond the garden is an easy walk to a breathtaking Overlook. Then take the Scenic Vista Loop Trail, a 0.25-mile loop, around the base of the rock outcrop for more stunning vistas. Chinquapin Grove: A serene contemplation site among Chinquapin oaks and wild roses that honors family and friends, signifying special events (like birthdays) for those with us and remembering those who have passed. Native Grasses Exhibit: Follow a winding path to discover 26 species of native grasses that grow in the Trans-Pecos region of the Chihuahuan Desert.
